Why This Mama Loves Raw Milk
Isn’t it amazing how much becoming a mother awakens a love and passion in your soul of souls that you didn’t know could exist? For years, even my whole life, I had dreamt of being a mother, helped women become mothers and bring their babies into the world, and read every book on parenting I could possibly get my hands on to, but nothing could have prepared me for or conveyed to me the depth of love and resulting fierce desire to protect and nurture my children that would arise within me the first time I felt that little fluttering kick within my belly.

Part of the way I seek to protect my children is through what I feed them. Not only do I want to protect them from all of the horrible things that have found their way into our food system, but I also want to give them the very best start possible by providing them with the most nutrient-dense, life-giving options I can. That is why I have made the decision to give them raw milk.
Firstly, when I choose raw milk, I feel secure in the protection of knowing the source...knowing where, or better who, my milk is coming from. When I know the farmer, I can trust that that he is doing his very best to produce an amazing product, not just trying to comply with rules and regulations in order to not get shut down by Big Ag.
Secondly, raw milk just has so much more to offer my children than conventional milk....you could say it is the way milk is supposed to be.
Here’s just a few of some of the amazing health benefits of raw milk....
Fat Soluble Vitamins: Sometimes hard to get in our modern diet, these are necessary for the function and development of the teeth, bones, brain and nervous system and prolific in the milk of animals who graze green grass all day.
Absorbable Minerals: Raw milk’s minerals - calcium, chloride, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and sulfur- are readily absorbable.
Living Enzymes: Enzymes help with the absorption of body building factors such as calcium and in the digestion of butterfats.
Wulzen Factor: This anti-stiffness factor, destroyed when milk is pasteurized, protects against arthritis, cataracts, and calcification of the pineal gland.
Water Soluble Vitamins: Up to 50% of vitamin C content is lost during pasteurization along with up to 80% of all water soluble vitamins.
Superfood Butter Fat: When butter fat comes from raw milk produced by healthy pastured animals, it has the perfect omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acid ratio, anti-tumor and antimicrobial properties, conjugated linolenic acid (CLA), and lecithin (this helps babies brains grow).
Butyric Acid: This is the primary acid needed by the colon to properly function and produce bifidus bacteria (a probiotic). Low levels are linked to colon cancer, ulcerative colitis, and irritable bowel disorder.
Vitamin K2: Highest when animals graze on green grass, K2 promotes childhood growth and development and supports healthy reproduction. It also aids in mineral absorption, protects against tooth decay and arteriosclerosis, and is a key component of the brain.

So that’s it. Having raw milk to fill my children’s glasses and tummies with brings me joy because I know it is helping me to give them the very best possible foundations on which to start their lives.
